Canadian Stingray Award-winning singer-songwriter AHI recently released his second album 'In Our Time' via Thirty Tigers. To coincide AHI has announced a run of shows opening for The Lone Bellow on their UK tour. AHI (pronounced EYE) built a following by word of mouth and a DIY approach for his first album 'We Made It Through The Wreckage' with one track 'Ol Sweet Day' from the record streamed 2.5 million times and counting. Full dates and a link to a very impressive NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert appearance follows:

In Our Time follows AHI’s self-released debut album, ‘We Made It Through The Wreckage’ which was released digitally worldwide in January 2017. Without any promotion, marketing or budget supporting him, AHI’s songs were slowly discovered, reaching and developing what would become a dedicated fanbase. His intimate live performances began to enhance interest, helping the album receive widespread recognition in Canada with AHI winning the 2017 Canadian Songwriting Competition award for Folk/Singer-Songwriter and the 2017 Stingray Rising Star Award for ‘Ol’ Sweet Day’, a track that has since gone on to generate over 2.5 million streams.

AHI’s songwriting looks to merge his skill for detailed story-telling with an ability to capture melodies, a prowess evidenced from opening track, ‘Breakin’ Ground’ which sets the tone for In Our Time, using an inspirational tale about the songwriter’s own experience of overcoming adversity. With ‘Made It Home’ the father of three reflects upon the foundations of who he is, whilst with ’Straight Ahead’ he warns of the perilous temptations that we each encounter, using a piece of advice: “put your blinders on and look straight ahead,” as the ethos behind the track.

AHI’s lyrics jump topic frequently, refusing to remain lampooned to any single theme, from the hymnal ‘Just Pray’, a narrative of a child torn between honour and resentment for an abusive father to ‘Five Butterflies’, the centrepiece to the album which delves into AHI’s own story. AHI’s expressive vocals exude comfort, emotion and sincerity with his lyrics sitting as a mature reflection upon his songwriting and his own personality. He performs with an all-encompassing openness and honesty that invites anyone and everyone to take part.
