Reproductive Rights = Civil Rights.
DIY pioneer and feminist icon Ani DiFranco continues to advocate for women as the November election looms. While on her current VOTE DAMMIT tour, DiFranco has been performing new song "Play God," which reflects her beliefs in reproductive freedom. “Play God” (from her forthcoming full-length release) is the first new Ani DiFranco music to be released since her ALLERGIC TO WATER album in 2014, and was released on Friday October 7th.
In light of the current political climate in the United States, DiFranco is using her 2016 VOTE DAMMIT tour and her music to encourage fans to vote on Election Day and have their voices be heard.
In a career that has spanned over 25 years, DiFranco has released more than 20 studio albums, as well as live albums, EPs, and collaborations. Many of her songs have been woven with her views on the issues she’s passionate about. “Trickle Down” discusses the racism and gentrification, while “To The Teeth” speaks about the need for gun control, and “In or Out” questions society’s traditional sexuality labels.
