Los Plantronics 'The Worst Is Yet To Come' 2LP due November 24th
Winner of the best LP cover I've seen this year goes to Los Plantronics. 'The Worst Is Yet To Come' brings together the best of their material from 1995-2017 and looks like an essential purchase for lovers of surf-rock, mariachi, rock n' roll and/or Mexican wrestling. The 2 LP set on Jansen Records is set for release on November 24th in the UK. Much more about Los Plantronics including a track listing for the album follows:
Norway’s Los Plantronics, are to release ‘The Worst Is Yet To Come’ (Best of 1995-2017) this November 10th via Jansen. The Oslo based raucous 9-piece orchestra are known for their head spinning sounds that journey from berzerk surf-rock to crooning mariachi, including wild 50’s rock’n’roll, instrumental passages and frantic R&B. There’s even a mariachi version of Gene Clarks masterpiece ‘So You Say You Lost Your Baby’.
22 years after their formation, for the first time, the best of Los Plantronics’ will be collected on one release. No less than 100 musicians have played with the band since, and many of them are heard in the thirty songs on ‘The Worst Is Yet To Come - Best of 1995 – 2017’.
They have perfected their style since their inception in 1995 and visually, their custom-made outfits, their stylish suits and, not least, their Mexican wrestling masks have remained as eye-catching. The cover, designed by the artist Johnny Stingray, is a depiction of the band burying their previous albums. It’s all done with a sly smile, of course, and it suggests that perhaps we will get more music from Los Plantronics in the upcoming years.
In addition to the album, a Los Plantronics photo-book is also to be issued. The photographer Stian Evensen has followed Los Plantronics throughout their frantic voyage, and now has collected together some of the most striking of the images captured in a book titled ‘MARIACHI! Hecho en Noruega!’.
