Frances Luke Accord release new single and announce US tour dates
A very pleasant surprise in the RGM inbox recently was news of a new single 'Maria' by Frances Luke Accord. The Chicago based duo are working on a new album for next year as a follow up to their acclaimed debut release 'Fluke' of which RGM favourites Darlingside said "We couldn't recommend their debut LP, Fluke, highly enough." which is good enough for the team at RGM. If, like me, you’re a fan of all things short and sweet then this is a track that will definitely appeal. ‘Maria’, the new single from Frances Luke Accord, clocking in at one minute and fifty-eight seconds, is a tiny but glittering glimpse of their harmony-laden acoustic sound. It follows the success of their 2016 album Fluke which led them to support slots with Darlingside, Anais Mitchell and The Ballroom Thieves. The duo of Brian Powers and Nicholas Gunty (nope, neither of them are named Luke or Frances) are currently touring hard in the US with their brand of impeccably pure vocal harmony, crowning a sound that is three parts American folk and one part progressive bluegrass. ‘Maria’ may be teasingly short but it is a track full of promise and potential and therefore - if you’re new to the band - it’s the perfect introduction.”
