Here at RGM, we try our very best to get into the festive swing of things. Which can be easier said than done, but luckily Cats In Space are back with a Christmas single to warm the cockles and generally bring a warm fuzzy glow to all classic rock fans and lovers of a festive tune. ‘My Kind of Christmas’ could well join the greats and pop up in every shopping centre in December for years to come. No doubt the band will be performing ‘My Kind of Christmas’ when they get the party started on their upcoming festive dates. ‘My Kind of Christmas’ is released on December 6th and much more about the single, Cats In Space and the tour follows:
Yes, it had to happen! Cats in Space are releasing a Christmas song, and one to put a warm glow and furry fuzzy feeling inside each and every one of us this Yuletide.
“My Kind Of Christmas” written by Greg Hart, Mick Wilson and Steevi Bacon is one of those classic ‘kitchen sink productions’ that was the tradition back in the glory days of the 70s festive season. All the classic ‘Cats trademark sounds’ have united, been gift wrapped, and presented in a power packed tune destined to be an ‘evergreen’ song for years to come. Yes, there are bells, whistles, huge vocals, guitars galore and even a Children’s School choir in this epic mini-masterpiece.
Released on 12” picture disc, 7” ‘Satsuma coloured vinyl’, and a double pack 7” vinyl inside a ‘Cat-mas Tin’ containing a whole bunch of goodies, each format contains exclusive new B-Sides too. There will even be a ‘Christmas CD album’ containing all the songs plus a further two exclusive songs for CD only.
Add to this a vast Christmas merchandise range on the Cats in Space website, it all adds up to the biggest and most lavish campaign the band has done so far.
The song features as part of a massive Christmas campaign that sees the band head out onto the road for their second headline tour of 2019 and one that will further cement the fact that the popularity of Cats in Space continues to grow and grow.
“Remember, the Cats are for life… not just for Christmas.”

UK rock sextet Cats In Space are back - in the biggest of ways - with their fourth studio album, Atlantis. Songwriter and guitarist Greg Hart promises that compared to previous outings, this LP “has more symphony” (a delightfully Spinal Tappian claim, making reference to the orchestrations by renowned arranger Mike Moran). While it remains a mystery as to whether or not it was recorded in Dobly, Atlantis is certainly the band’s most grandiose statement to date, as the band persist in indulging all the musical excesses of classic seventies rock (think Queen, think ELO), with no acknowledgement of the four full decades that have since passed. Of course, this sort of enterprise is the purest of love affairs and each of these songs has been crafted with the utmost care. Every guitar break, synth wig-out and quadruple-tracked vocal is era-perfect; this is the majesty of Rock, writ large.
