Amigo The Devil returns with 'Another Man's Grave' single from upcoming album
When the force of nature that is Amigo The Devil toured the UK in early 2020 in support of his fantastic 'Everything Is Fine' album, the world was a far different place. Looking back Amigo The Devil’s dark gothic tales were a perfect match for the upcoming pandemic, but at the time the RGM crew were merely staggered by his ability to mesmerize a crowd. We were witnessing something very, very special and ATD was most certainly the real deal. Nearly a year later and ATD is back with a terrific new single ‘Another Man’s Grave’ from his upcoming Beau Bedford (The Texas Gentlemen / Paul Cauthen) produced album ‘Born Against’ set for April 16th, 2021 release via Liars Club. More about the album including the single follows:

‘Another Man’s Grave’ is the opening salvo from the recently announced ‘Born Against’, the second album by Texas based Dark Americana artist Amigo The Devil, which is set for release on April 16th 2021’. Another Man’s Grave’ is a storytelling marvel, as ATD (real name Danny Kiranos) laments the trials and tribulations of the human condition over a swelling orchestral crescendo.
To record the follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Everything Is Fine’, Kiranos hunkered down at Modern Electric Sound Recorders in Dallas with producer Beau Bedford (also leader of The Texas Gentlemen) to capture the brutal honesty and sombre atmosphere that has become a benchmark for his sound. In a time where an apocalypse feels more like reality than a biblical passage, ‘Born Against’ captures perfectly the beauty and chaos of his experience.

Following the release in late 2018 (early 2019 in the UK) of the Ross Robinson produced ’Everything Is Fine’, Amigo The Devil drew attention in his home territory from the likes of Noisey, Consequence of Sound and Brooklyn Vegan, as well as a diverse range of UK publications that included Kerrang!, Americana UK and Planet Rock. Often compared to renowned storytellers such as Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Father John Misty, ATD’s music quickly captured the hearts and minds of fans of genres ranging from country, metal, punk and alternative rock as well as Americana. Describing his lyrical style, Rolling Stone magazine stated that “Kiranos unflinchingly explores dark and grim subject matter from suicide to serial killers, spinning these topics into dark love songs that explode into heavy-metal catharsis.”
2018’s ‘Everything Is Fine’ was one of that year's finest releases and marked Danny Kiranos aka Amigo The Devil as one to watch. ‘Everything Is Fine' is a terrific record full of dark imagery unhindered by genre stereotypes. It might not be quite everyone’s cup of tea but if you like a good murder ballad delivered by a heavily bearded man with a banjo then ‘Everything Is Fine’ could well become your go-to album. As it turned out the album only told half the story as the RGM team found on our last but one pre lockdown night out in February of 2020. The Amigo The Devil live experience is something else entirely, ‘Everything Is Fine’ is a fantastic record but put ATD on a stage and the results are very special. In forty years of gig-going, I’ve rarely seen an artist connect with an audience in the same way as ATD. The subject matter might often be jet black but ATD is not without humour and his followers appreciate the honesty within and can relate to his grasp of the daily problems we all face, and how we deal with those problems that have, in many cases, been exaggerated by the world around us in 2021.
