Kip Moore launches 'In The Wild' sessions in advance of 'Wild World' album due May 29th
Kip Moore will release his latest album ‘Wild World’ on May 29th via Snakefarm Records in the UK with a vinyl pressing to follow June 26th. To set the scene, and build anticipation for the release, Kip has embarked on the ‘In The Wild’ sessions initially recorded in the Mojave Desert, with cherry-picked indie musicians, the series will also include solo acoustic performances now that Kip is in self-isolation in Kentucky. Much more about Kip, the new album and the first ‘In The Wild’ session video featuring India Carney and Melissa Dougherty follows:
Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Kip Moore is offering fans a form of virtual escape, announcing his “IN THE WILD SESSIONS”, an acoustic video series that will give fans insight into Moore’s upcoming fourth studio album WILD WORLD, available May 29 via Snakefarm Records in the UK [vinyl format released June 26].
The first video available in the series of videos is a spine-tingling version of the forthcoming releases’ title track that sees Moore performing in the atmospheric Californian desert as he collaborates with independent artists, vocalist India Carney and guitarist Melissa Dougherty.
Directed and filmed by long-time collaborator PJ Brown, Moore initially began shooting the “IN THE WILD SESSIONS" in the Mojave Desert in Southern California with independent musicians that he cherry-picked to perform with and shine a spotlight on. Moore has continued to shoot the stripped-back sessions solo while in isolation at his rock-climbing facility Bedrock, located in the heart of Red River Gorge in Kentucky, with more videos set in both locations to be released in the coming weeks.
“The ‘In The Wild Sessions’ began as a way to tell the story of these songs in a bare-bones kind of way,” shared Moore. “I love to travel, and so PJ and I scouted a spot in the desert in California and hand-picked some independent artists to do the sessions with, as a way of highlighting their amazing talents too. We shot five videos in the desert and then when our plans changed a little with everything going on, we shifted gears while I’m here in Kentucky in isolation. The scenery in Red River Gorge is also one of my favourite places to be and so I'm looking forward to sharing this pocket of the world in some of the videos to come.”
Co-writing all but one of WILD WORLD’s insightful tracks, Moore navigates the search to find a place and a purpose. Throughout the 13-song collection, that search is revealed in deeply personal terms, with Moore even self-producing the set, with help from David Garcia, Luke Dick and Blair Daly on respective tracks. The weathered heartland-rock sound Moore has embraced on previous efforts gets its emotional volume pumped up, as substance takes precedence over style, timeless prevails over trendy, and the tracks are captured live.
Moore has toured the world headlining shows - including the Long Road Festival and London’s Roundhouse in the UK - earning acclaim and a rabid fanbase as an all-in performer in each setting, and most recently wrapping 40 sold-out headlining shows in The US, the UK and Canada. Praised by Noisey as “an uncompromising, genre-defying artist firing on all cylinders”, Moore has blazed his own trail…
The current CMA “International Artist Achievement Award” nominee first splashed into the mainstream with the double-PLATINUM “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” in 2012, then followed up with three more best-selling No. Ones (“Hey Pretty Girl”, “Beer Money” and “More Girls Like You”), a trio of ambitious, critically-praised albums and two gritty EPs that landed him on multiple “Best Of” lists.
