No stranger to the UK, Chastity Brown makes a welcome return to our shores for a run of shows commencing at The Water Rats in London on May 23rd. Speaking from personal experience, I can say that Chastity is fantastic live, one of those rare artists with a story to tell and the ability to communicate that story to everyone in the room. Chastity released her sixth (by my count) album ‘Sing To The Walls’ in 2022. More about Chastity Brown and those dates follow:
Chastity Brown is a storyteller in the blues tradition. The daughter of a black blues musician and white Irish mother who was raised in Tennessee, she tells stories populated by marginalized characters to stake her own space as a queer black woman and to speak to other experiences oftentimes ignored.
She’s been praised by NPR, American Songwriter, Sunday Times Culture, Paste Magazine, The Independent, Daily Mirror and appeared on the much sort after U.K.’s Later...with Jools Holland TV show, and is excited to be returning to the UK this May and June for a UK tour. Please see full tour details below!
Chastity Brown was born with an innate ability to channel complex circumstances into beautiful, uplifting songs. But after surviving the isolation of the early pandemic and witnessing the global racial reckoning that manifested itself in the riots mere blocks from her South Minneapolis home, even she is surprised to hear the way her new album Sing To The Walls turned out.
“It’s a love album, in a way I didn’t plan on" Chastity says.
