Mike Andersen brings the devil back June 2nd 2017
Danish singer-songwriter Mike Andersen returns with his seventh album ‘Devil Is Back’ on June 2nd 2017 via Nordic Music Society. Looking to expand his blues-soul palate Andersen teamed up with producer Mads Michelsen (The Gnags) and worked with a range of songwriters. This process included a trip to Nashville where a collaboration with Heather Bond resulted in the first single ‘This Time’ a duet with Joss Stone. More about Andersen, his new album, and a link to ‘This Time’ follows:
Mike Andersen is a Danish singer songwriter who has released six albums since 2002. Previously self-produced, his new album ‘Devil Is Back’ sees him join forces with other songwriters and producers who over time have become part of his musical universe. Together they have created his best record to date, showcasing his ability to constantly evolve and experiment with his soulful blues style.
Some of Andersen’s new songs were written in Nashville, where he had the opportunity to write and record with several internationally acclaimed songwriters. One such co-write (with Heather Bond) yielded ‘This Time’, which has been recorded as a duet with the Grammy award winning soul singer Joss Stone and will be Andersen’s first UK single.
‘Devil Is Back’ is the first time that Andersen has worked with a producer to make an album. Mads Michelsen - the drummer in Danish band Gnags as well as a studio musician on more than 2500 recordings - has been involved in every step of the journey in making the record, from the rehearsal space, to the song choices and studio recordings to finally mixing the 11 songs that comprise the finished product. A cohesive fusion of soul, blues, funk, rock and pop united by Andersen’s raw yet assertive voice, his catchy melodies have earned him a unique spot in what otherwise might be seen as a traditional field. With this seventh album the world will recognise that Denmark has produced an artist with international potential.
