Black Sabbath 50th Anniversary listening sessions - In The Dark
Heavy Metal pioneers Black Sabbath have announced the first event to mark their 50th Anniversary. Their debut album - which must surely rank as one of the most influential albums of all time - will be played back at an album listening session at Number 10, Hackney, London on February 11th, 2020. This isn’t just any listening session though as it’ll be In The Dark in conjunction with BMG and Pitchblack Playback in high-quality MQA audio (Master Quality Authenticated). More about the event, Black Sabbath and Pitchback Playback follows:
1970: four guys from Birmingham, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler released their debut self-titled album and single-handedly created what would become known forever as ‘heavy metal’ – a singular moment marking a paradigm shift in the world of rock. The term entered popular vocabulary to describe the denser, more thunderous offshoot of rock over which Black Sabbath still majestically preside.
It is now 50 years on, over 70 million records sold worldwide and with an incredible musical legacy, the band, together with BMG and Pitchblack Playback confirm two commemorative 50th Anniversary album listening sessions for their debut self-titled album ‘Black Sabbath’- to be held ‘in the dark’ on 11th February 2020. The sessions will take place at Number 10, Hackney starting at 7:30 and 8:30 and the album will be played back in MQA high definition audio.
Pitchback Playback is a series of listening sessions where music fans can listen to upcoming album releases and classic LPs like never before in cinemas and other intimate spaces. Not only that, they elevate the experience of listening to the music by staging it completely in the dark - providing the most immersive, detailed and visceral sound experience possible. Sabbath fans now have an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the debut album ‘Black Sabbath’ in a uniquely heightened sensory experience.
