The Equatorial Group - Live Broadoak Sessions video
The south coast of the UK has become a hotbed of Folk and Americana so Red Guitar Music should not have been surprised to be contacted by The Equatorial Group a five piece act from Eastbourne. The band Helen Weeks, Teresa Goss, Andy Tourle, Dave Davies and James Hillman recently performed a Broadoak session which does a great job of capturing their live sound with strident slide guitar and excellent vocal harmonies. The band categorise themselves as languid Americana and the video below of the session is very good indeed. The band play regular gigs around the south, and they tell me they are looking for more, so why not get in touch if you can help them out.

December 1st 2014 will mark the release of the second full album from Boston native Michelle Lewis. The self-released album is the belated, but very welcome, follow up to her 2004 debut ‘This Time Around’. Once again Lewis has worked with producer and multi-instrumentalist Anthony J Resta (Duran Duran, Collective Soul, Shawn Mullins etc.) with whom she had previously worked on her ‘Broken’ and ‘Paris’ EPs. The album includes two superb songs written with Nashville songwriter Robby Hecht.

Scottish singer-songwriter Fraser Anderson will play a solo acoustic showcase at the BBC Club in London on 26th November to celebrate the first full release of his album 'Little Glass Box'. Tracks from the album have already featured on BBC radio courtesy of Bob Harris and Zoe Ball. The album was recorded in France and initially manufactured by Fraser himself and sold at shows while living in that country, 'Little Glass Box' will now receive a welcome reissue on Membran Records as the first release in a new partnership with the company.

Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors will release a new album ‘Medicine’ January 26th, 2015 via his own Magnolia Music label. The album is a follow up to the well received and highly successful ‘Good Light’ from 2013 and marks a decade in existence for The Neighbors - wife Ellie (vocals / guitar), Nathan Dugger (guitar / keys) and Rick Brinsfield (bass). ‘Medicine’ was recorded in just eight days at Middletree Studios in East Nashville with Joe Pisapia (KD Lang, Ben Folds, Guster, Josh Rouse) co-producing with the band.
Nashville based, Memphis born Drew Holcomb will be touring the UK and Ireland early in 2015 accompanied by Nathan Dugger.

To capture these influences and create the correct vibe ‘Dojo” was recorded live to tape using a combination of analogue and digital recording techniques. The band recorded the album in the studio they built in a previously abandoned office space. It was then mixed by Phil Brown (Zero 7, John Martyn, Bombay Bicycle Club) at The Engine Room in London.
